We spent the most wonderful holiday for two weeks in June 2006 in a holiday cottage on the edge of Edinburgh and it was the most perfect place to spend our summer holiday, and I would like to tell you a little about this gorgeous city.
You can escape the crowds in the city, park your car without difficulty and enjoy the freedom of self-catering in a stone-built traditional holiday home that includes central heating, bathroom and shower, and all the amenities you need, without the constraints of bed and breakfast accommodation.
Edinburgh is the most beautiful city in Scotland and you should pay a visit to both the Old Town with its spectacular Castle which pays host to the Military Tattoo during the Edinburgh Festival in August, Holyroodhouse, the Queen's official residence in Scotland and former home of Mary, Queen of Scots and many Scottish kings, and the Edinburgh Festival, the home of comic arts in the UK every year.
On the other hand, the New Town which is situated to the north of Waverley Station with the celebrated Princes Street shops and the largest area of Georgian architecture in Europe. Please pay a visit to the National Gallery of Scotland and the West Register House. Within a short drive from Edinburgh are royal palaces, stately homes, castles, a massive range of museums, and the amazing zoo.
With activities like Golf, hill walking, hiking, fishing, and an amazing choice of indoor leisure activities like swimming, shopping, and wonderful shops, galleries, restaurants and theatres nearby there is an astonishing number of things to do and see for people of all ages, at all times of the year, whatever the weather.

There are the most amazing parts of the country just a short drive away, including the Borders, the Loch Ness Monster, Perthshire, Fife, whiskey distilleries, Loch Lomond, theTrossachs, Rob Roy, Braveheart Country, Inverness, New Lanark World Heritage Centre, Burns and golf country nearby.
