West Cornwall is that final promontory of land at the far south west of England that extends from the wild and rugged Land's End at the tip, up to Truro in the south and across to Perranporth on the north coast. It includes the spectacular Lizard Peninsula, the southern-most point of England, and offers golden beaches charming fishing villages, ancient history, culture, heritage, fresh seafood cuisine and the delightful hospitality of the Cornish people. There are literally hundreds of holiday cottages throughout this area of the country, ranging in size from small cottages that couples can rent, through to large country houses that can sleep a dozen people comfortably.

The interior of this isolated region is typified by rolling moorland, green fields, woods and quaint villages and hamlets. These rural areas are the ideal base to start your cottage holiday, with fabulous scenery for tourists, with the convenience of modern living, local food, sea produce, and glorious beaches and rocky coastlines.

The south coast, dominated by Mounts Bay and Falmouth Bay, is more sheltered than the wild Atlantic coast in the north of this region. This provides an exciting range of environments suitable for all the family and for all activities including fishing and surfing, and allowing you to return to your rented cottage in the evening to relax in comfort after a busy day.

Along the north coast you will find exciting beaches such as Perranporth and surfing beaches swept by the Atlantic swell. Or look to the south coast for more sheltered, family-oriented beaches such as at Falmouth and those around the Lizard Peninsular. Everywhere, there are coves and caves in the rocky headlands that can be enjoyed by those holiday makers lucky enough to have discovered them.

West Cornwall is also a landscape enriched by history. You will come across burial chambers and stone circles, old tin mines and potteries galore. There are ancient pubs, churches and manor houses throughout the region as well as plenty of activities to enjoy. You can visit the spectacular St Michael's Mount with it's tide-swept link road, or enjoy the many pubs and restaurants in Penzance or any of the other small fishing ports along the coast as you watch the fishing boats off-load in the harbour.
